If the Lord say do it, just do it.

If the Lord say go, you go, right? Now many in the Christian kingdom would say they do exactly that. They would stand tall and pontificate how their lives are centered on what God’s says do in every aspect of their lives. Toss in, them adding “in Jesus name” to everything they do and they would swear they do as instructed. Today I began thinking about just that fact. I considered what the Lord requires from His children and what we as His children actually do on a daily basis. The Lord states we should commit our lives to Him to reap the benefits of salvation
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. “Proverbs 16:3

After reading the above scripture, many of us who claim to Love the Lord will still try to push our agendas forward. If we are in belief the Lord is all powerful and is our heavenly Father why do we refuse to follow his instruction verbatim? I think many of us don’t want to faces the consequences with the type of commitment which is required from God. Like our own children we search to find where the line is in the sand, so we can do what we want while believing we are in spiritual compliance. This action may work for many men and women; it doesn’t work in the eyes of God. He makes his points on discipline clear. Think about it; throughout the Bible, there are a number of men and women who were empowered with the spirit of God, who tried to get out of what they were asked to do. There are two in the Bible who stand out to me. Jesus is the one I think of first. He was sent here to save the world from its sins. He was empowered with power of God directly. To date He was the only perfect man we as Christians know. But when faced with the most difficult task ever given, He looked to our Father and asked this:

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42

In this one statement Jesus shows us what the human side is all about. Even though Jesus was the embodiment of God His humanity cause Him to have doubt. But He states in the same scripture that he is committed to doing the Lord’s will. Many of us will make the same request but make the choice for ourselves instead of doing what the Lord has requested, regardless of the outcome. Next there is Moses. When asked to go back to Egypt he did all he could not to return, while standing face to face with God.

Exodus 3:7-11 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey —the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

As we see, the Lord may ask us to do things which may be out of our scope of reasoning. All of this is part of the requirements to be a real Christian. As child in the eyes of God we need guidance and discipline. There also are times we need punishments for our behaviors. This is where I believe the problem lies with most Christians. The days of instant judgment as mentioned in the Old Testament are behind us. This fact is what opens the doors for many of us to feel we can do what we want, when we want to do it.  This is why we have to remember the Lord disciplines those he loves.

Hebrews 12:5-11 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” 7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline —then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10 They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Many will quote scriptures while doing the exact opposite of what the Word says to do. Some will even attempt to wrap scripture around negative behaviors in an attempt to justify the behavior. I am not different in certain aspects of my life. There are areas I struggle with in making sure I am doing what I am asked by God. However I offset this, first by asking for forgiveness of my actions. I also study and converse with others concerning the Word of God by doing what the Lord commands the best I can. I honestly feel many of us who call ourselves Christians have to continue to be living examples for the sake salvation and to be true reflections of God. We have to stand in the eyes of society’s normalcy, doing what we are ordered to do. It’s my opinion but this is the only way to truly be in compliance with the orders God has for each of us. True greatness lies in self control. Much of what I have discussed may seem impossible but God deals in the impossible.

Matthew 19:26 26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Who better to follow then the path set from Lord on high.

God Bless I pray this helps someone.
